Southern Magnolia Creative was built from a place of love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to creating something meaningful.

Founder April Powell began her journey in May of 2013, during one of the most defining seasons of her life. After the loss of her mother, while raising two children and putting herself through school to become a teacher, she started a small custom embroidery business at her kitchen table, Scripted By April.

With a single used embroidery machine and long, quiet hours of determination, April taught herself the art of precision and detail. Inspired by her mother’s own dedication to sewing, every piece was created with care, intention, and the belief that quality should never be compromised.

What began as a way to support her family quickly became something more.

In 2021, after a personal health turning point, April made the decision to step away from teaching and fully invest in her craft. She expanded into laser engraving, evolving her work into a full custom gifting experience. In December of 2022, she introduced permanent jewelry, adding a new layer of connection, celebration, and lasting beauty to her offerings.

By September of 2024, the business had grown into a full-time pursuit.

In January of 2025, Scripted By April was reimagined as Southern Magnolia Creative — a name that reflects not only her Southern roots, but the depth of her creativity, vision, and commitment to elevated craftsmanship.

Today, Southern Magnolia Creative is a locally rooted luxury brand specializing in permanent jewelry, custom engraving, and thoughtfully handcrafted pieces for life’s most meaningful moments — from bridal celebrations, new beginnings to personal milestones.
